QUESTION:
Where can I find nice French kids' clothes in the city? de Christie K. - 26/10/02 - Baie de San Francisco
Hi,
Can you tell me where I can find nice French kids' clothes in the city or online? Also, what are the best brands in France? I don't want to buy lower quality brands just because I'm told they're french. Thanks.

I. The most famous and quality French brands for clothing are:
Good value:
-------------
- Du Pareil au meme ( Have a web site:www.dpam.fr)
- Tout Compte fait
- Vert baudet
- Bout d' Chou ( distributed in Monoprix stores in France, great deals!)
Mid range:
-----------
- Petit bateau
- Cyrillus ( sells online and via catalog abroad too!)
- Absorba
High end:
---------
- Catimini
- Chipie
- Jacadi
- Sergent Major
( Not to mention Baby Dior...)
These are just a few, there are so many...
II. Where to buy nice (new) kids' clothes in the city. I wish I knew where to buy
nice USED French kids' clothes, too, to ease up on the wallet once in a while but haven';t found
that yet in the area... It's more a matter of luck at the nicer second-hand stores.
In the North East area of the city
----------------------------------
There are a few nice kids' clothes store:
- Jean et Marie: 100 Clement at Second. Nice selection of French clothing. No shoes there yet.
They also have a playroom where
you can leave the kids between ages 1 and 4 for a small fee.
# (415) 379-1111.
- Maison de Belles Choses: 3263 Sacramento st.
This ecclectic store held by a fan of all things French has beautiful French clothes, especially the
traditional ' robes a smoks' and a host of other French items for adults and for the home.
- Tuffy's Hopscoth: on Sacramento, 3307. Pretty big selection of French brands, in clothes and
shoes. # 415-440-7599.
- On the nice strip of Fillmore St, at # 2416, there is a store called Yountville with a nice selection of French clothes as well.
# 415-922-5050.
On the Embarcadero:
-------------------
- Inside one of the Embarcadero 2 shopping mall, there is a cute little store called:Kidiniki.
On Union Street:
----------------
- Mudpie: 1694 Union st, has nice French clothing.
Those are the main ones in the city.
- Of course if those don't meet your needs, you also have the online stores of some French brands and stores
in the US like: ww.frenchkids.com, and www.oliebollen.com which carries lovely ( slightly expensive)
Italian brands too.
- And the Cyrillus brand is very well equipped to sell abroad, from its French base, having been in the mail-order business for years:
--> www.cyrillus.fr.

You can try Mudpie on Union st., they carry very nice french clothing, they are pretty pricey but I haven't seen any afordable french clothes here yet!
The main french brand that you can trust is Petit Bateau (of course). I really like also Berlingot for their colors and originality. And Jacady, that you can find here is also a great name but much more classical.
As far as ordering online, you should try dupareilaumeme.fr, this is one of the french most popular brand at afordable prices.

Jacadi de Olivia C. - 26/11/02
There is also a Jacadi store on 1215 Burlingame Ave. in Burlingame.
Very chic!

Where can I find nice French kid's clothes online? de Donna V. - 15/10/04

You can find some wonderful French brands at www.monpetitenfant.com. They carry mostly berlingot, marese, alphabet, sucre d'orge, and some other brands. Not a huge selection, but what they have is well-edited. If you become a member they'll send you discount coupons.
